Camping Bel

Bel Campsite, Vendee

Camping Bel campsite is a small yet pleasant family run campsite which can be found on the outskirts of La Tranche sur Mer on the Vendee coastline.

The area, as with much of the Vendee coastline, is filled with a variety of beaches which are great for those looking to go swimming, to sunbathe, to enjoy some of the local water sports, to build sandcastles, have lots of fun or to just sit back and relax. Within just 500 meters of Camping Bel you can find an excellent golden sandy beach which is just perfect for families.

Why we recommend booking Camping Bel Campsite:

Great family friendly campsite.
Good pool complex.
Wonderful beach within walking distance.
On the outskirts of La Tranche sur Mer.
Plenty to do nearby.

Camping Bel is perfect for those looking to relax and enjoy a family holiday. Although not the largest in the region, the pool complex offers visitors two pools, one just for children and the other for the whole family. There are also a variety of other activities on offer such as a gym, a variety of sports and 3 children’s playgrounds.

Although the campsite has a take away it does not have a restaurant. Those looking to eat out however will find a large variety of restaurants selling all types of food in the nearby La Tranche sur Mer.

In our opinion Camping Bel is perfect for those families with younger children. The playgrounds are great, the pool complex is small yet excellent and there’s a great beach within walking distance.

Read on to find out more about some of the great things you can enjoy nearby!

La Tranche sur Mer

La Tranche sur Mer is a highly popular holiday resort which lies on the Vendee coastline with Camping Bel being located on its outskirts. The town benefits from over 8km of glorious sandy beaches and well known as being one of the best seaside resorts in the Vendee region. The town is popular with both holiday makers and also those looking for water sports with a large variety including sailing, windsurfing, surfing and many more being available for both experienced and learners alike. Although quieter during low season, La Tranche sur Mer comes alive in high season with a great range of bars, restaurants, cafes, markets and street performances for your enjoyment.

Chateau de Talmont

A 23km drive to the northwest of Camping Bel will bring you to the lovely town of Talmont St Hilarie and it’s impressive ruined Chateau de Talmont. The Chateau has a chequered past with many different owners including King Richard the Lionheart of England. The Chateau overlooks the river Vie and although mostly ruined, there are two towers still standing which offer visitors some brilliant views of the surrounding areas. Those visiting the Chateau will also be able to find out more about the history of the Chateau and the region through the many exhibitions and shows that take place in the castle each year during high season.

La Rochelle

If you’re happy to travel a little further afield to see somewhere special then a trip to La Rochelle should be on your list of places to visit. Located 60km to the southeast of Camping Bel, La Rochelle is one of the most attractive ports in western France. You’ll find a great deal of things to do and see in La Rochelle. Although the ancient part of the port was raised to the ground in 1628 by Cardinal Richelieu, the beautiful harbour still remains today. You’ll also find a really good aquarium and the ports protective towers of La Chaine and St Nicholas are also worth visiting and are steeped in history. If you’re not into history then why not try a bit of culture with a spot of shopping or relaxing at one of the many cafes, restaurants or bars.
