Dunes Nature Reserve d’Hourtin

The Reserve Naturelle Nationale des Dunes et des Marais d’Hourtin is located just 4km to the south of Cote D’Argent campsite and is a wonderful natural nature reserve. The reserve extends to approximately 2150 hectares and encompasses beaches, sand dunes, pine forests, marshes and a lake.
Nature lovers will find the area exhilarating and the variety of trails and tracks available to walkers and cyclists are second to none.

Parc de L’Adventure

The Parc de L’Adventure can be found approximately 19km to the north of Cote D’Argent campsite. The adventure park offers a variety of activities for all ages. There’s a treasure hunt and mini golf course on site but most people visit for the tree adventure course. You’ll find age specific courses for those aged between 2 and 6 with a variety of obstacles, slides, swings and zip wires and another range of courses for children aged 6 and over and then another set for adults and children over 1m 40 tall. All of the courses have different features, games and obstacles for different abilities meaning that most families can ensure they’ll have something to keep them happy here.

Lac d’Hourtin

Lac d’Hourtin lies a mere 10km distance away from Cote D’Argent campsite and is the perfect place for a family day out. The lake is the largest freshwater lake in the whole of France and offers a whole range of activities to those who visit. There are a whole variety of places to park your car and go for a walk or cycle and there’s even several lakeside beaches where you can sit down and relax or have a little fun splashing around in the lake. If you’re into your watersports then you also won’t be disappointed as its possible to try your hand at canoeing, kayaking, sailing and much more. If you fancy a day away from the campsite and the beach then Lac d’Hourtin is well worth the visit.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is well known across the world for being one of the best wine producing areas in France. The city is located around 73km to the southeast of Cote D’Argent campsite and offers a great deal more than wine.
Dating back to before the Roman Empire, Bordeaux boasts a great deal of history and culture. Some buildings date back in history however the majority date back to around the 18th Century. There are more historical monuments in Bordeaux than any other city in France apart from Paris.
Make sure you spend the whole day exploring the city, however ensure that you do try to sample some of the local wine. They’ve been making here since the 8th Century and they are very good at it!
