Marineland lies 52km to the northeast of Domaine du Colombier campsite and is the premier sea world in Europe. This wonderful sea world is home to many different water related creatures including penguins, sea lions, sharks, dolphins, killer whales and even polar bears. There are a variety of shows each and every day at Marineland so that you can see the dolphins and killer whales perform. As well as Marineland you’ll also find Aquasplash which is a brilliant splash park with a variety of water slides and rides, Adventure Golf and Kids Island where you’ll find a variety of attraction especially for children all within close proximity.
It’s well worth planning your visit to Marineland carefully and it’s also worthwhile checking out the combined tickets as it’s often cheaper in the long run and will enable you to visit more than just Marineland.
As Domaine du Colombier is located on the outskirts of Frejus it makes sense that it should be one of the places you choose to explore. You’ll find lots to do within this wonderful town including the water park Aqualand which has lots of fun water slides and Luna Park which is a fun park with lots of rides, both of which are perfect for families of all ages.
Frejus is also filled with history and visitors should ensure they visit the Roman amphitheatre which is now used for shows and concerts, the remains of the Roman aqueduct, the museum which hold lots of antiquities and finally the towns historic cathedral and medieval town square. If history is not your thing and you’re more interested in the beach then don’t worry as Frejus has a spectacular sandy beach as well!
Saint Rapael lies just to the east of Frejus and 5km to the southeast of Domaine du Colombier campsite. This superb seaside resort boasts a wonderful long sandy beach which is backed by a beautiful promenade.
The area is very popular with water sports enthusiasts and there are various opportunities for visitors to try their hand at a variety of sports such as sea fishing, diving and sailing but to name a few.
The town itself has a great variety of cafe’s, restaurants, bars and shops and you’ll also find some historical places to visit should you feel the need to find out more about the area.
The two main places you need to check out should you visit Saint Raphael is the underwater museum of archaeology where you can look at a variety of finds retrieved from the sea by the famous Jacques Cousteau and the 12th Century church Eglise des Templiers where you can see some Roman remains.
Roquebrune sur Argens
If you fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle of the busier towns why not take a trip to Roquebrune sur Argens. This wonderful old village lies just 11km to the west of Domaine du Colombier and is well worth the visit. Within this wonderful town you can see many old buildings including the 16th Century watchtower and 16th Century church and if you really want to relax why not visit the Lac de L’Arena. Here you’ll find some lovely lakeside beaches, some truly wonderful photo opportunities and water sports such as swimming and canoeing.
