Le Soleil

Le Soleil Campsite

Le Soleil campsite is the perfect place for a family beach holiday and is located just to the north of the wonderful resort of Argeles sur Mer in the south of France.

The campsite is large and lively with lots of activities nearby including Luna Park amusement park. The campsite also benefits from direct access to a stunning sandy beach so it’s not difficult to see why Le Soleil is such a popular campsite for families of all ages to visit.

Why we recommend booking Le Soleil campsite:

Fly or drive holiday.
Direct access to the beach.
Lots of nearby attractions.
Large and lively campsite.
Great swimming pool complex.

As well as being perfect for families to enjoy the sun, the local beach is perfect for those wishing to enjoy some of the local water sports such as windsurfing and canoeing and for those really looking for something different will love Le Soleil’s diving centre where those wishing too can take diving lessons.

In our opinion the jewel in the crown at Le Soleil is it’s wonderful swimming pool complex. The Californian styled swimming pool is surrounded by green plants and sun terraces where you can sit back and relax. There are 2 pools in total with a selection of slides and although not the biggest complex in the region it is sufficient to keep most families happy on their holiday.

Le Soleil is popular with younger families outside of high season, but during high season there’s a great range of evening entertainment including a nightclub for the under 15’s making sure your children can fully enjoy their summer holiday.

Days out and sightseeing

Whilst staying at Le Soleil campsite why not find out what the local area has to offer. Exploring nearby towns and places of interest is a great way of making the most of your holiday in France.

Read on to find out more about some of the great things you can enjoy nearby!

Argeles Adventure

One of the closest attractions to Le Soleil campsite is the wonderful Argeles Adventure. Lying within walking distance at less than 1km away, Argeles Adventure is a high wire adventure course which offers something to do for all the family.
You’ll find a great variety of courses for those aged over 5 including various bridges, jumps, swings and zip lines. There’s also a dedicated area for those aged 2-4 to ensure that those younger members of the family don’t miss out. Although the course is fairly close to the campsite and you may decide to head back for lunch, if you choose to stay for the whole day, there’s a great picnic area and restaurant on site. The restaurant caters for a variety of tastes with sandwiches, salads and pizzas along with a selection of hot and cold drinks all being available.

La Vallee des Tortues

La Vallee des Tortues (Valley of the Tortoises) is located 13km to the southwest of Le Soleil campsite and is a great place to visit if you’ve got children. This wonderful little wildlife park is home to over 500 different tortoises from a variety of different species. As well as seeing the tortoises in their outdoor environment there’s also the opportunity to see the tortoise care centre where members of staff carefully care of both the old and young including the baby tortoises.
There’s a guided tour which lasts around one and a half hours and the park has also provided an outdoor relaxation area with walks, a plant maze, picnic areas and even a children’s playground area. If you’re looking for something to do that’s a little unusual but very special then head to the Valley of the Tortoises!

Villefranche de Conflent

Villefranche de Conflent is located a little further afield from Le Soleil campsite at 68km but in our opinion is well worth the visit. The town is located where the El Cadi and La Tet rivers merge and is classified both as “Les Plus Beaux Villages de France” one of the most beautiful villages in France and as a UNSECO wold heritage site.
Villefrance de Conflent is a major historical town dating back to the 11th Century. The towns fortifications are amazing and were majorly overhauled by Vauban in the 17th Century. You’ll also find the wonderful Fort Liberia in the town which is a wondrous sight.
Throughout the many winding streets of the town you’ll be able to discover not only the towns history but also some of it’s culture. There are a variety of wonderful shops selling a variety of crafted items such as leather, jewellery and pottery. We’d also recommend a trip on the Petit Train Jaune (little yellow train) where you’ll be able to enjoy some truly stunning scenery of the upper valley.

Luna Park

Luna Park is one of the closest attractions to Le Soleil campsite being located within walking distance. Luna Park is a large amusement funfair and doors open at 8:30pm each evening. The park covers an area of approximately 1 hectare with plenty of different rides and attractions for all ages including bumper cars, ferris wheel, merry go rounds and much, much more. If you’re a family who loves amusement parks and rides, Luna Park is the place to go of an evening!
