L’Oceano d’Or campsite can be found a short distance from the pleasant harbour town of Jard-sur-Mer on the Vendee coastline.

The Vendee region is famous for it’s glorious beaches and the area surrounding L’Oceano d’Or is no different with the nearest beaches being Plage de Morpoigne and the coveted Blue Flag awarded beach of Plage du Boisvinet, both of which are approximately 1km away.

Those happy to travel a little further afield will find a very pleasant Blue Flag beach called Plage de la Mine which is backed by a wonderful pine forest and has plenty of rock pools for children to explore.

Although there’s plenty to see and do nearby the great thing about L’Oceano d’Or is that there’s a great range of facilities and activities on site allowing you to have as much fun as you like without actually leaving the campsite.

The pool complex is great featuring 2 swimming pools along with water slides and lot’s of terracing so you can sit back and relax whilst your children are splashing around. There’s also a great range of sporting activities to keep you busy including table tennis, football, tennis, volleyball and you can even hire bicycles which is great as there are lots of cycle routes throughout the region.

To compliment the great range of activities available during the day, L’Oceano d’Or also boasts a great range of facilities and activities for your evenings on site. These include a take away, snack bar, bar and evening entertainment during high season including discos.

Whilst staying at L’Oceano d’Or campsite why not find out what the local area has to offer. Exploring nearby towns and places of interest is a great way of making the most of your holiday in France.

Chateau de Talmont

The Chateau de Talmont can be found a mere 7km to the northwest of L’Oceano d’Or campsite and is well worth a visit. Founded originally in the 10th century by the Count of Poitou, this wonderful castle has had a chequered past and was even once owned by none other than Richard the Lionheart.
Throughout the ages, this wonderful castle has played its part in the regions history and visitors to the chateau are able to find out about medieval life and the chateaux past. During high season visitors are treated to a variety of shows and exhibitions including weapons, birds of prey and much more.

Zoo des Sables

Zoo des Sables lies approximately 18km to the northwest of L’Oceano d’Or campsite near to the popular town of Sables d’Olonne. The zoo expands to around 3 hectares and is home to approximately 280 different animals from 40 species including monkeys, giraffes, birds, wolves, big cats and much more. The Zoo des Sables is the second most popular visitor attraction in the region of the Vendee with over 160000 people entering the zoo every year. Throughout the day visitors to the zoo can take part in a range of activities and shows bringing the animals to life.

Le Chateau des Adventuriers

Le Chateau des Adventuriers is a children’s adventure trail park which is spread out across 210 acres of gardens. This great park is set in the grounds of the wonderful 16th century chateau, Chateau de la Guignardiere which is located 9km to the northeast of L’Oceano d’Or campsite. The park itself is excellent for younger children with a variety of adventure trails and treasure hunts which are based on history and world exploration. Discover some of the prehistoric animals that ruled the earth millions of years ago, swashbuckle your way through the pirate trail and discover more about the castle with their interactive app. Children will love their time at Le Chateau des Adventuriers and we’re sure you will too.

Les Sables d’Olonne

Les Sables d’Olonne is located on the Vendee coast around 24km to the northwest of L’Oceano d’Or campsite. Noted as one of France’s original seaside holiday resorts, bathing at Les Sables d’Olonne commenced originally in the early 19th century. The main Grand Plage is backed by the stunning promenade where classic French historical buildings mix with more modern hotels.
The town is home to the famous “Vendee Globe” round the world race and is therefore extremely popular with water sports enthusiasts of all kinds.
As you’d expect from such a town, Les Sables d’Olonne boasts a great deal of places to see and visit with a variety of shops, galleries, historical buildings, restaurants and bars all within easy reach.
