We’ve put together below, a list of our favourite top ten beach holiday campsites in France because we know that one of the first things most families look for when booking a camping holiday to France is the distance to a good quality beach.
Most peoples first thought when you mention a beach holiday in France is one of the many quality campsites located in the south of France. What a lot of people tend to forget is that there are an awful lot of excellent beaches located in other regions such as the Vendee, Brittany and even Normandy.
Whether you’re looking for a huge expanse of soft golden sand, a sheltered cove with no other holidaymakers for miles or a stunning surfers beach, there are many to choose from around the French coast.
Our Top Ten Beach Holiday Campsites
To help you find your perfect family holiday we’ve selected our favourite top 10 beach holiday campsites. They may have direct access to the beach or just be near to the beach but either way we love them just the same.
Le Clarys Plage – St Jean de Monts – Vendee
Le Clarys Plage is located in the Vendee and gets into our top ten as Les Mouettes beach is located just 500m down the road. The Vendee benefits from some wonderful sunshine during the summer months, the beach is long and sandy and is perfect for families as it shelves very gently into the sea. You’ll also find free parking right by the beach entrance.

L’Atlantique can be found in the Finistere region of Brittany and benefits from direct access to a brilliant family friendly beach. The walk to the beach is through the local nature reserve and the beach is great for sunbathing, paddling, building sandcastles, swimming and like most other beaches, having fun!
L'AtlantiqueLa Grande Metairie – Carnac – Brittany
Although La Grande Metairie doesn’t have direct access to the beach, the quality of the campsite and the beaches that are located nearby are two reasons as to why it’s featured in our top 10. Carnac Plage has some great sandy beaches which are just great for a family day out and is just 12 minutes drive away from the campsite.
La Grande MetairieLa Cote de Nacre – St Aubin sur Mer – Normandy
As we’ve already stated not all great beaches are on the south coast of France. Normandy has some terrific beaches and La Cote de Nacre lies just 600m from the nearest beach. You’ll also find La Cote de Nacre close to the WWII landing beaches of Juno, Gold, Sword and Omaha.

Le Ruisseau is in the perfect location as there are plenty of wonderful beaches nearby. Although the campsite does not have direct access to a beach, you’ll find a great selection of wonderful beaches at nearby Bidart and all the way up the coast to Biarritz and Hossegor.

Marina d’Erba Rossa is a lovely 4 star family friendly campsite that lies within an enviable position halfway along the eastern coast of Corsica.
The campsite occupies a wonderful location on this fabulous island, nestled between the beautiful Mediterranean sea and the stunning Corsican mountains. With such a stunning location you really couldn’t ask for anything more.
Club Farret – Vias – Languedoc
Club Farret provides you with a truly wonderful location in the south of France complete with direct access to a massive, fine sand covered beach which is warmed not only by the sun but also the Mediterranean sea. The beach is perfect for younger children as well as those looking to enjoy water based fun. The beach shelves gently into the sea and there’s a variety of activities including donuts available.
Club FarretCamping Club Mar Estang – Canet Plage – Languedoc
Camping Club Mar Estang is another beautiful campsite in the south of France that benefits not only from great facilities but also from having direct access to a wonderful beach. The beach at Canet en Roussillon is incredibly long and is covered in soft sand. There’s a short path to the beach from the campsite and it’s great of families of all ages.
Camping Club Mar EstangL’Etoile d’Argens – St Aygulf – Cote d’Azur
L’Etoile d’Argens is another of our choices which doesn’t have direct access to the local beach but unlike other campsites in the Cote d’Azur, what it does have, is a boat which ferries visitors to the campsite down the river to the wonderful beaches at St Aygulf which are lovely, long and sandy. If you don’t fancy catching the boat there are other wonderfully sandy beaches nearby at St Raphael and Agay!
L'Etoile d'ArgensLe Soleil – Argeles-sur-Mer – Roussillon
Of course campsites in the south of France benefit from some of the best weather. Le Soleil is a brilliant campsite that benefits from direct access to Ageles Plage which is a wonderfully sandy beach that stretches out for miles. You’ll also find a great selection of bars, cafes and restaurants to refresh you whilst you soak up the sun.
