Tour de France 2016 Camping Accommodation

The Tour de France 2016 will be run from Saturday July 2nd until Sunday July 24th 2016.

2016 will see the 103rd Tour de France which will consist of 21 different stages covering a total distance of approximately 3519km.

The Tour de France 2016 includes a variety of different race types including 9 flat stages, 1 hilly stage, 2 individual time trial stages and 9 mountain stages with 4 summit finishes.

Along with France, the tour visits Andorra, Switzerland and Spain as the contestants race to the finish line.

As France is so near to the UK and the race is so popular it’s worth thinking about booking your Tour de France 2016 accommodation early and that’s where we can help!

Tour de France 2016 Camping Accommodation!

We all know that there are plenty of choices when you’re looking to stay in France including hotels, gites and of course campsites.

The great thing about camping however, is the ability to make it into a full family holiday. There are plenty of great facilities at the campsites such as great swimming pools, various sporting activities and much, much more ensuring that you can not only see the cycling but also have a great deal of family fun at the same time.

You’ll also find that there are a variety of prices available which can to be somewhat cheaper than hotel rates.

To help you in your search for a great campsite near to the cycling, we’ve outlined the Tour de France 2016 route and selected some great campsites along the way for you to choose from. For those not happy to camp, we’ve also featured some hotels!

The Tour de France 2016 Route

Stage 1 Mont St Michel - Utah Beach Sainte Marie du Mont

Stage 1 of the Tour de France begins on the 2nd July 2016 and is a flat stage covering approximately 188km. The stage begins at Mont St Michel and ends at Utah Beach at Sainte Marie du Mont. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Chateau des Ormes which can be used if you need accommodation and Campsite St Michel if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Those wanting to stay near to the finish can stay at La Cote de Nacre, Camping du Golf or Campsite Le Fanal or for those looking for a pitch only Village Les Vikings or Campsite Port Land. Stage 2 Saint Lô / Cherbourg Octeville

Stage 2 is another flat stage and starts on the 3rd July 2016. The stage covers around 182km beginning at Saint Lo and ending at Cherbourg. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start and finish including Camping du Golf or Chateau Lez Eaux or for those looking for a pitch only Village Les Vikings or Campsite Port Land. Stage 3 Granville / Angers

Stage 3 begins on the 4th July at Granville and is another flat stage. From Granville the tour travels approximately 222km all the way to Angers. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Chateau Lez Eaux which can be used if you need accommodation and Campsite St Michel if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Those wanting to stay near to the finish can stay at Domaine de la Breche or for those looking for a pitch only Campsite Ile d’Offard or Campsite L’Isle Verte. Stage 4 Saumur / Limoges

Stage 4 of the tour is a flat stage which takes the tour from Saumur to Limoges. Starting on the 5th July, stage 4 covers a distance of around 232km. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Domaine de la Breche or Le Parc de Fierbois which can be used if you need accommodation and Campsite Ile d’Offard or Campsite L’Isle Verte if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Stage 5 Limoges / Le Lioran

Stage 5 is the first of the mountain stages and commences on the 6th July 2016. Stage 5 covers around 216km and takes the tour from Limoges to Le Lioran. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Campsite Campeole Le Coiroux which can be used if you need accommodation and Camping du Lac de Miel if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Stage 6 Arpajon sur Cere / Montauban

>Stage 6 of the race brings the riders back onto the flat and starts on the 7th July. The stage will take the contestants on a 187km journey from Arpajon sur Ere to Montauban. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Campsite Le Petit Bois which can be used if you need accommodation and Campsite Chateau de Grange Fort if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Those wanting to stay near to the finish can stay at Camping Les Vignes or Campsite Lac des Trois Vallees both of which provide pitch only or accommodation holidays. Stage 7 L’Isle Jourdain / Lac de Payolle

Stage 7 commences on the 8th July and takes the riders back onto the mountains with a a 162km journey from L’Isle Jourdain to Lac de Payolle. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Campsite Lac de Thoux St Cricq or those wanting to stay near to the finish can stay at Airotel Pyrenees for accommodation holidays or Camping Soleil du Pibeste for a pitch only. Stage 8 Pau / Bagnères de Luchon

Riders will stay in the mountains for stage 8 on the 9th July as they travel for approximately 183km from Pau to Bagneres de Luchon. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start and finish including Airotel Pyrenees for accommodation holidays or Camping Soleil du Pibeste for a pitch only. Stage 9 Vielha Val d’Aran / Andorre Arcalis

Stage 9 is the last of the mountain stages before the riders take a well earned break. This stage is on the 10th July and takes the riders on a 184km journey from Vielha Val d’Aran to Andorre Arcalis. Stage 10 Escaldes Engordany / Revel

Stage 10 sees the first ride after the riders rest day. Commencing on the 12th July, riders will travel this hilly stage for approximately 198km from Escaldes Engordany to Revel. Stage 11 is on the 13th July and heads back to the flat for a distance of around 164km. The stage takes riders from Carcassonne to Montpellier in the south of France. Stage 12 Montpellier / Mont Ventoux

Stage 12 sees riders leave Montpellier and head towards Mont Ventoux. The stage is on the 14th July and heads back into the mountains for a distance of around 164km. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Camping l’Europe or Campsite Eden which can be used if you need accommodation and Palvas Camping if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Those wanting to stay near to the finish can stay at Campsite La Grand Terre or those looking for a pitch only Campsite Les Bastets. Stage 13 Bourg Saint Andéol / La Caverne du Pont d'Arc

Stage 13 runs on the 15th July and sees the riders compete in an individual time trial. The course runs for around 37km from Bourg Saint Andeol to La Caverne du Pont d’Arc. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Campsite La Grand Terre which can be used if you need accommodation and Campsite Les Bastets if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Those wanting to stay near to the finish can stay at L’Ardechois or La Bastide en Ardeche or those looking for a pitch only at L’Ardechois. Stage 14 Montélimar / Villars les Dombes Parc des Oiseaux

On the 16th July competitors head back out onto the flat for another gruelling 208km ride from Montelimar to Villars les Domber Parc des Oiseaux. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Campsite La Grand Terre which can be used if you need accommodation and Campsite Les Bastets if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Those wanting to stay near to the finish can stay at Campsite Aux Rives du Soleil or those looking for a pitch only at Sites & Paysages Les 3 Lacs du Soleil. Stage 15 Bourg en Bresse / Culoz

Stage 15 consists of another 159km ride into the mountains between Bourg en Bress and Culoz. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Campsite Aux Rives du Soleil which can be used if you need accommodation and Sites & Paysages Les 3 Lacs du Soleil if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. Stage 16 Moirans en Montagne / Berne

The 18th July will see the competitors take on stage 16. Here they will head back onto the flat for a distance of around 206km between Mourans en Montage and Benre before they take their rest day. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start including Domaine de Chalain which can be used if you need accommodation and Domaine de l’Epinette or Campsite Le Moulin if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. At the moment we do not have any campsites near to the finish of this stage but you can stay in a hotel by searching for a hotel nearby.

Stage 17 Berne / Finhaut Emosson

Stage 17 commences on the 20th July after the second rest day. Riders head back out into the mountains for another 184km ride from Berne to Finhaut Emosson. Unfortunately we do not feature any campsites near to stage 17 but you can stay in a hotel by searching for a hotel nearby.

Stage 18 Sallanches / Megève

Stage 18 is the second time trial event which runs on the 21st July. Riders will cover just 17km from Sallanches to Megeve. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start and finish of this stage including La Ferme de Serraz or La Ravoire which can be used if you need accommodation and Villagecentre Les Iles if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. At the moment we do not have any campsites near to the finish of this stage but you can stay in a hotel by searching for a hotel nearby.

Stage 19 Albertville / Saint Gervais Mont Blanc

The 22nd July sees competitors head back into the mountains for stage 19. Here they will cover around 146km from Albertville to Saint Gervais Mont Blanc. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start and finish of this stage including La Ferme de Serraz or La Ravoire which can be used if you need accommodation and Villagecentre Les Iles if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. At the moment we do not have any campsites near to the finish of this stage but you can stay in a hotel by searching for a hotel nearby.

Stage 20 Megève / Morzine

Stage 20 is the penultimate stage of the Tour de France 2016 on the 23rd July. Riders will continue in the mountains for another 146km from Megeve to Morzine. There are a number of different campsites located close to the start and finish of this stage including La Ferme de Serraz or La Ravoire which can be used if you need accommodation and Villagecentre Les Iles if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan. At the moment we do not have any campsites near to the finish of this stage but you can stay in a hotel by searching for a hotel nearby.

Stage 21 Chantilly / Paris Champs Élysées

The final stage of the Tour de France 2016 will see competitors head back onto the flat for the Chantilly to the Champ Elysees stage in Paris. This flat section covers around 113km and will see an explosive finish to this wonderful competition. There are a number of different campsites located close to the action including La Croix du Vieux Pont and International which can be used if you need accommodation and Campsite Le Village Parisien Varreddes or International if you are looking for a pitch only campsite for your own tent, mobile home or caravan.
