Aigues Mortes

Although Aigues Mortes lies further afield than many other attractions, at around 106km to the northeast of Domaine de la Yole, we highly recommend you take the time to pay it a visit.
This wonderful 13th Century fortified city once stood nearer to the sea but as the waters became filled with silt the city eventually became set further back. The city is surrounded by spectacular ramparts and the city has many historical monuments held within its walls. The main things to see at Aigues Mortes are the stunning ramparts, the Tower of Constance, the Saint Louis square and the church of Notre Damn des Sablons. Those looking for a little more should take a stroll around the cities streets. Here you’ll be able to discover a variety of medieval buildings, shops and cafes.

In the opposite direction to Aigues Mortes you’ll find Carcassonne, one of the most famous places in the south of France. Located around 86km to the west of Domaine de la Yole campsite, Carcassonne is classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO and it’s not that hard to understand why.
Carcassonne is made up of two distinct parts, La Cite, which is the old medieval part and the newer city. Although you’ll find plenty to do within the newer part of Carcassonne, the majority of people visit the city for the medieval La Cite. The best view of the La Cite is from the old bridge or Pont Vieux which straddles the rive Aude. Here you’ll get a fantastic view of this wondrous medieval fortress. Once inside you’ll be able to discover the wonders of the castle with all it’s glorious architecture with plenty of great views from the ramparts, battlements and towers.

Aqualand Cap d’Agde

Aqualand is located at Cap d’Agde which is around 32km to the east of Domaine de la Yole campsite.
This fantastic watermark is great for all members of the family with a variety of slides, chutes and pools.
Although Aqualand is not cheap it is worth the visit whilst staying in the south of France. As these types of water park are so good, they are extremely popular and can become quite busy during high season. Although you’ll find queues at Aqualand, we recommend you purchase your entry ticket the day before you intend on going as this will save you having to wait prior to entry.
