Annecy

Located around 19km to the southeast of La Ferme de la Serraz is the wonderful town of Annecy. Those looking to find out more about the regions rich history and culture will find a trip to Annecy well worth while. You’ll find lots to do there from a boat trip, the pretty canal and the 12th century Palais d’Isle which is located in the centre of the canal and was once home to the Lord of Annecy. The towns museum is now housed in the Palais d’Isle and you’ll also find a range of other places to see including the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre, the Church of Saint Maurice and rue Sainte Claire.

Chateau de Menthon St Barnard

Chateau de Menthon St Barnard is a medieval castle that can be found a mere 13km to the both of La Ferme de la Serraz campsite. Built originally from wood in the 10th century, the present Chateau de Menthon St Barnard was constructed later in 13th century. The castle is open yearly for visitors between May and September and is very popular with visitors looking to find out more about the areas history. There are around 105 rooms to explore with plenty of antiques, artwork, displays and ornaments to examine. One of the best things about the castle is the fact that a troop of actors relive how life was like in the castle as you wander around the grounds bringing the history of Chateau de Menthon St Barnard to life.

Doussard

If you take a short walk from La Ferme de la Serraz campsite you’ll stumble across the pretty village of Doussard. Although small, the village is well worth a visit providing you with some wonderful scenery and a variety of shops, bars and restaurants where you can sit back, relax and enjoy some of the local delicacies.

Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex

Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex can be found a mere 9km to the southeast of La Ferme de la Serraz campsite and provide visitors with a look into the mystical and magical natural properties of the surrounding areas. A set of natural caves, a beautiful waterfall and a spectacular zip wire await visitors. Below the ground you’ll be able to visit the caves with around 250m which are accessible to visitors taking the tour. The waterfall stands at around 45m tall with a set of steps and slopes where visitors can climb to the very top and those looking for a bit of excitement can take the zip wire over the waterfall which is around 150m in length. The Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex are open from mid April to the end of September each year.
