La Ravoire campsite - The Alps

La Ravoire is a beautiful campsite which can be found at the southwestern end of Lake Annecy within the French Alps. Although La Ravoire is fairly small and peaceful it does boast a really great pool complex which is perfect for all the family.

The best thing about La Ravoire as with many campsites in this area is it’s location and views. From any point within the campsite you can see some truly wonderful mountain scenes of the Alps and these views help pursuade visitors to get out and explore the local area.

Chateau de Menthon St Barnard

The medieval castle Chateau de Menthon St Barnard is located around 15km to the northeast of La Ravoire campsite and is worth visiting if you’re at all interested in French history. The castle was original constructed out of wood in around the 10th century, although the modern castle that you’ll see if you visit today was constructed in around the 13th century.
The castle offer visitors an insight into the regions history with around 105 rooms which are filled with a variety of antiquities from throughout the centuries and you’ll also find a troop of actors working at the castle who bring the castles history to life with their performances.


Doussard is the closest village to La Ravoire campsite at a mere 3km away. A short walk will bring you to this pretty village where you can sit back, relax and enjoy some of the local produce. Doussard is not the largest of places but we think you’ll agree that the views from the village are wonderful and the small selection of shops, bars and restaurants are well worth the walk.

Aix les Bains

Aix les Bains is a beautiful town which lies around 49km to the southwest of Camping Les Fontaines on the edge of the Lac du Bourget. The town is steeped in history and is most famous for being a spa town with thermal springs that date back to Roman times. As such there are a variety of Roman remains that you can view including the Arc de Campanus and the remains of the temple near to the town hall.
In the 19th century spa towns were very popular and as a result much of the towns architecture dates back to this period of time. There’s much to see at Aix les Bains and if you’re in the area it’s well worth a visit.

Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex

Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex provides visitors with an insight into the magical natural properties of the region. Lying approximately 11km to the southeast of Camping Les Fontaines, Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex is a combination of a system of natural caves and a spectacular waterfall.
Take a trip below ground into the magical cave system and explore 250m of caves where you’ll find a variety of geological wonders. Failing that you can climb up a variety of slopes and steps to the top of the 45m waterfall which cascades down the mountainside. Once at the the top of the waterfall there’s an option for the more adventurous to jump aboard the zip wire which takes you on a 150m exhilarating journey high above the waterfall to see the area from a different perspective.
