Le Belledonne campsite can be found at the edge of Les Ecrins National Park a short distance from the winter ski resort of Alpe d’Huez at the gateway to the Oisans region.

Although fairly small, Le Belledone certainly knows how to pack a punch boasting wonderful scenery, beautiful mountains and a comprehensive range of facilities and activities to keep the whole family busy.

Le Belledonne is a family run campsite and is an exceptionally friendly place to stay. On site activities include 3 swimming pools and a sauna with the beautiful mountains forming the perfect backdrop in which you can relax.

Facilities at Le Belledonne are excellent with a great restaurant, a take away and even a pool side terraced bar where you can sit down and have a drink or something to eat during the day or relax after a long busy day.

Le Belledonne benefits from a truly wonderful location. Bourg d’Oisans with it’s many restaurants and shops lies a mere 7km away, the wonderful ski resort of Alpe d’Huez around 20km away and the stunning city of Grenoble can be reached in around 45 minutes where you’ll be able to immerse yourself in a stunning amount of culture and history.

Grenoble

Grenoble can be found 42km to the west of Le Belledonne campsite and is well worth a visit if you have the time. The city is encircled by the spectacular Alps and you can find a wonderful view of the stunning mountains no matter where you are in the city. Grenoble is a stunning place where the old meets new with pretty squares and medieval buildings standing side by side with all types of new modern buildings.
Explore the history and culture or take a walk around the shops, restaurants and bars the choice is yours. One thing you must do whilst in Grenoble is to take a ride on the cable car system. One of the first cable cars in the world, you can take a magical ride up to the stunning Bastille and learn more about the town and regions military history.

Chartreuse Distillery

If you’re interested in history, culture and alcohol then a trip to the Chartreuse Distillery should be on your agenda when visiting Le Belledonne. Located around 66km from the campsite and to the north of Grenoble in the town of Voiron the distillery is the longest of it’s type in the world.
Tours of the distillery are free with a complimentary drink. During the tour you will discover how around 130 plants, herbs and flowers are mixed and distilled with alcohol to create the liquor which was named after the monks of the Grande Chartreuse monastery.
The monks were handed a manuscript detailing how to make the liquor in around 1605 by François Annibal d’Estrees and it has been produced by the monks ever since.

Alpe d’Huez

Alpe d’Huez lies approximately 20km from Le Belledonne campsite and many will recognise it as one of the liveliest resorts for winter sports. What you may not realise is that Alpe d’Huez is also one of the most lively summer resorts. During July and August especially, Alpe d’Huez offers itself for a variety of outdoor sports and activities such as walking, climbing, hiking, cycling, mountain biking and much much more.
Other more high octane activities available include canoeing and rafting and if you’re really out for adventure why not try your hand at rock-climbing, paragliding, canyoning and even flying.

Les Ecrins National Park

Les Ecrins National Park is located to the southeast of Grenoble, covers an area of approximately 92,000 hectares and is one of the largest national parks in France.
Boasting some truly spectacular mountain scenery the park can be at times both dramatic and wild in it’s appearance. There are breathtaking views in all areas of the park with around 300 sq km of forests, 170 sq km of glaciers and approximately 368 sq km of alpine meadows to have fund in and explore. The highest point in the park and a massive focal point for climbing enthusiasts is the Barre des Ecrins which stands at around 4102m.
