One of the great things about Les Ranchisses is the excellent range of activities and facilities on offer. You’ll find a variety of sporting activities such as football, tennis and basketball along with a selection of other activities including archery, a gym and the river which provides opportunities for fishing and canoeing.

La Grotte Cocaliere

La Grotte Cocaliere is one of the largest caves in the Cevennes national park and can be found near to the town of St Ambroix approximately 39km to the southwest of Les Ranchisses campsite. Classed as one of the best caves in France, La Grotte Cocaliere dates back over 146 million years and is still developing to this very day. The caves are a thing of beauty with many different formations available for visitors to see. The current cave system is just a branch of a larger system which is thought to extend to over 30km with around 1km being available for visitors to explore.
Outside the caves you’ll be able to take part in the discovery trail and see the flora and fauna of the area along with the remains of farm buildings and a stone dolmen.

Pont d’Arc

One of the major tourist attractions and a sight simply not to be missed is the Pont d’Arc. Located around 30km to the southeast of Les Ranchisses campsite, the Pont d’Arc is a natural arch that has been carved out of the rock over the years by the Ardeche river. The arch stands at around 54m high and 60m wide and is one of the regions most famous natural tourist attractions. Commonly described by many as the access to the Ardeche canyon, the area is also highly popular with canoeists and kayakers of varying ability.
Located nearby in the Chauvet Pont d’Arc cave you’ll also have the opportunity to see some cave paintings from the paleolithic era which are around 30000 years old.

La Ferme aux Crocodiles

If you have children and you’re looking for something to keep them happy whilst staying at Les Ranchisses campsite then look no further than La Ferme aux Crocodiles. This truly unique and wonderful attraction is located around 62km to the southeast near to Pierrelatte.
The farm is housed in an 8000 square meter tropical greenhouse and boasts a variety of flora and fauna along with birds, tortoises and in excess of 400 different crocodiles. Children will love this wonderful park and don’t forget to take your camera as the crocodiles won’t be the only ones wanting to get snapping.

Le Grand Bois

Le Grand Bois can be found 48km to the southwest of Les Ranchisses campsite near to Molieres sur Ceze and is the perfect place for those seeking a massive injection of adventure, thrills and excitement into their holiday.
Set in over 10 hectares of forest, this stunning tree top adventure park offers visitors of all ages and abilities the chance to test themselves and each other on a variety of different courses. Rope bridges, climbs, jumps and a 315m zip line await those brave enough to take on the challenge. There’s even a course especially for the youngsters and canyoning for those looking for that little extra bit of excitement.
