Things to see and do
There are plenty of things to see and do, and places to visit, within a short distance of La Baume campsite including:
- Luna Park – This massive funfair is filled with flashing lights, music and most important of all fun!. There are a great variety of rides and attractions meaning that there’s something for just about everyone. The magic mountain ride, big wheel and ghost train are just three to mention let alone the rest! Whether your planning to visit Luna Park with small children, teenagers or even adults, you’ll be able to find something to keep you happy although in our opinion it’s better for the young ones.
- Saint Paul de Vence – If your happy to travel a little further afield on a day out then a trip to Saint Paul de Vence should be on your list. You’ll find this medieval town located on a hill that overlooks the valleys below. The fortified town is filled to the brim with history and culture and if you’ve got a camera please make sure you take it with you. Within the medieval walls that surround the town you’ll find a whole host of historical buildings wrapped around the myriad of narrow streets waiting to be explored. The town today, is one of the major centres for modern art in France with many famous artists and celebrities having made the town their home in the past. Your first stop on getting to Saint Paul de Vence should be the tourist information office where you’ll be able to get a map or guide to the various buildings and attractions within the walls.
- Cannes – If you haven’t heard of Cannes then you clearly haven’t lived. Cannes is of course most famous for its yearly film festival and as such, ensure you keep an eye out as many celebrities visit Cannes even after the festival has finished. If you have an interest in the film industry and actors then a walk along the Boulevard de la Croisette should be one of the things you do on your visit. Located in the pavement beneath your feet you may be able to spot the handprints of some actors and stars you recognise. Although a mecca for the rich and famous, Cannes also provides you with a variety of history, culture and wonderful architecture. Within the old part of the town you can see an 11th Century watchtower and there’s also a variety of museums and galleries, the most interesting being the Castre museum which is located in the medieval Chateau de la Castre.
- Roquebrune sur Argens – This quintessentially provincial French village is nestled in the hills and is a wonderful place to visit to get away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside resorts. Take a walk around the village to discover the 16th Century church and watchtower, take in some of the wonderful views that are available or sit back and enjoy a spot of lunch, the choice is yours. Those looking for a special treat will love the Lac de L’Arena where you can relax on one of the lakeside beaches or go canoeing or take in the great views and scenery.
