Just 300m away you’ll find Hourtin-Plage which boasts miles upon miles of stunning beach. Covered in sand, incredibly long and wide, the beach is highly popular with families and surfers alike. The most impressive feature of all however is the stunning swimming pool complex at La Cote d’Argent. Updated in 2013 the pool complex offers 4 pools, a variety of slides and a pirate themed water playground with a variety of jets, water toys, buckets that drop masses of water onto the children below and even more slides.

- Dunes Nature Reserve d’Hourtin – The Reserve Naturelle Nationale des Dunes et des Marais d’Hourtin is a wonderful natural, nature reserve. The reserve extends to approximately 2150 hectares and encompasses beaches, sand dunes, pine forests, marshes and a lake. Nature lovers will find the area exhilarating and the variety of trails and tracks available to walkers and cyclists are second to none.
- Parc de L’Adventure – This brilliant adventure park offers a variety of activities for all ages. There’s a treasure hunt and mini golf course on site but most people visit for the tree top adventure course. You’ll find age specific courses for those aged between 2 and 6, another range of courses for children aged 6 and over and a final set of courses for adults and children over 1m 40 tall. All of the courses have different features, games and obstacles for different abilities meaning that most families can ensure they’ll have something to keep them happy here.
- Lac d’Hourtin – Lac d’Hourtin is the perfect place for a family day out. The lake is the largest freshwater lake in the whole of France and offers a whole range of activities to those who visit. There are a whole variety of places to park your car and go for a walk or cycle and there’s even several lakeside beaches where you can sit down and relax or have a little fun splashing around in the lake. If you’re into water-sports then you won’t be disappointed as it’s possible to try your hand at canoeing, kayaking, sailing and much more. If you fancy a day away from the campsite and the beach then Lac d’Hourtin is well worth the visit.
- Bordeaux – Bordeaux is well known across the world for being one of the best wine producing areas in France. Dating back to before the Roman Empire, Bordeaux boasts a great deal of history and culture. There are more historical monuments in Bordeaux than any other city in France apart from Paris. Make sure you spend the whole day exploring the city, but also ensure that you try to sample some of the local wine as they’ve been making it here since the 8th Century and they are very good at it!
