Le Littoral campsite is located in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire in the Vendee region of France.
Le Littoral campsite is a lovely family friendly campsite that’s located within a wooded area covering 9 hectares between Les Sables d’Olonne and Jard-sur-Mer along the Vendee coastline.
One of the best campsites in the area, Le Littoral is a member of the Yelloh Village group of campsites and is extremely popular with families of all ages. Due to its stunning location and high quality facilities and activities many families return year on year.
Le Littoral lies in the perfect location to explore everything the Vendee has to offer with a variety of stunning villages, towns and attractions within close proximity to the site, so if you’re looking for a superb base then this is the campsite for you.
One of the things you’ll notice about Le Littoral is the fantastic landscaping. Although the campsite sits within a lovely wooded area, you’ll find a plethora of pleasant tropical styled plants and flowers all over the site to add a real feeling of luxury.
Just over 100m away from the campsite you’ll find the stunning Atlantic Ocean. Here you’ll find a lovely small pebble beach and rocky cove which is great for children who love rock pooling. For those looking for more sand than pebble from their beach you’ve no need to worry as there’s a nice sandy beach less than 2km away and to make things even easier the campsite even puts on a free bus during high season.
The pool complex at Le Littoral is absolutely amazing and made with children’s happiness in mind. There are a number of impressive outdoor swimming pools, and then you’ll find a tropical styled indoor pool with lazy river, a number of indoor and outside slides not to mention a fantastic undercover splash park for little ones. Things to see and do
There are plenty of things to see and do, and places to visit, within a short distance of Le Littoral campsite including:
- Chateau de Talmont – The Chateau de Talmont is a stunning 10th century ruined Chateau which is located a mere 8km away from Le Littoral campsite. Although the Chateau was built by the Count of Poitou, its most famous owner was King Richard 1st otherwise known as Richard the Lion Heart. Chateau de Talmont has a chequered past with many stories to tell having played its part in the regions history. Visitors are able to find out more about medieval life and how life would have been for both the owners of the Chateau as well as those who lived there. In high season visitors can take part in a variety of shows and exhibitions where weapons, medieval life and even birds of prey are shown off.
- Zoo des Sables – Zoo des Sables lies in the town of Sables d’Olonne. Covering approximately 3 hectares the zoo is home to around 280 animals covering 40 separate species. With in excess of 160000 visitors each year, Zoo des Sables is the second most popular attraction in the Vendee. Animals at the zoo include various monkeys, birds, giraffes, wolves, penguins, big cats and much much more. Throughout the day, visitors to Zoo des Sables are encouraged to join in through a variety of shows and activities making it one of the best zoos in the region.
- La Roche sur Yon – The town is centrally located in the region and was chosen on 25 May 1804 by Napoleon to replace Fontenay le Comte as the capital city. La Roche sur Yon had been pretty much destroyed during the Vendee revolt of 1793 – 1796 and significant works were carried out following Napoleon’s decision. In the centre of the city you’ll find a large rectangular area with a statue of Napoleon on his horse. A variety of local markets and other events take place in this area each week. The city is well worth a visit boasting a variety of history, culture and local produce.
- Le Chateau des Adventuriers – If you’ve got kids and you’re looking for a little bit of fun then why not take a trip to Le Chateau des Adventuriers. Located around just 17km to the west of Le Littoral campsite is a brilliant 210 acre children’s adventure trail park with plenty of fun and excitement to be had by all. Set in the grounds of the spectacular 16th century Chateau de la Guignardiere, Le Chateau des Adventuriers offers younger children a variety of different themed adventure trails and treasure hunts which are based on world exploration and history. Children and adults alike will love to swashbuckle their way along the pirate trail and discover more about the various dinosaurs that ruled the earth on the prehistoric trail, to mention a few.
