- Saint-Jean-de-Monts – Saint-Jean-de-Monts is a modern and highly popular holiday resort and was once a fishing village but has changed throughout the years into one of the best beach resorts in the area. Perfect for family holidays, Saint-Jean-de-Monts boasts a wonderful 8km long beach which is wonderfully sandy and perfect for families boasting a number of play areas, sporting activities, places to eat and even a promenade. Behind the beach lies a vibrant town with a variety of shops, restaurants, bars and places to sit and relax along with a variety of other places of interest.
- Zoo des Sables – For those happy to travel a little further afield whilst on holiday, we recommend a visit to the Zoo des Sables. Situated around 42km to the southeast of Les Ecureuils campsite, the zoo is the second most popular tourist attraction in the area. Over 160000 visitors attend the zoo every year to see the large variety of animals who call the 3 hectare zoo their home. Choose from over 280 different animals covering over 40 different species to visit, including birds, monkeys, giraffes, big cats, penguins and much much more. Whilst at the zoo, visitors are encouraged to take part in many of the shows and activities that are put on each day. If you love animals then Zoo des Sables should definitely be on your list of places to visit whilst staying at Les Ecureuils.
- Atlantic Toboggan – Atlantic Toboggan is a great splash water park which is located a mere 2km away from Les Ecureuils campsite and is well worth a visit. The park is quite large and filled with a variety of slides, chutes, water jets and other water based activities which are sure to keep all members of the family happy. For those colder days in the Vendee (of which there are few in high season) visitors to the park are kept warm as the water is a constant 28 degrees. Take a ride on the kamikaze slide, boa slide, black hole slide or dinghy river, the choice is yours.
- Chateau Noirmoutier-en-l’ile – The Chateau at Noirmoutier-en-l’ile was original built towards the end of the 12th Century and has an extremely chequered and unusual history. The Chateau was initially constructed to protect the local port from invasion from foreign powers but was also used during the Vendee Wars and also during both WW1 and WW2. The various rooms of the castle are filled with antiques from years gone by.
