There are plenty of things to see and do, and places to visit, within a short distance of Sequoia Parc campsite including:

  • Luna Park – Luna Park is a great amusement park which can be found to the southwest of Sequoia Parc campsite. Filled with all sorts of rides and amusements, Luna Parc offers visitors a great place to have some fun. The park caters for all ages with rides and attractions such as carousels, bumper cars, roller coasters, log flumes, slides, mini golf and much, much more.
  • Brouage – Brouage is a beautiful fortified town that was founded during the 16th Century. The town was once an important port which made its wealth from the salt trade. In the mid 17th Century Cardinal Richelieu ordered that the port be fortified leading to the stunning walls and buildings you see today being created. Unfortunately some years later the waters retreated and the harbour filled with silt causing the port to become inoperable. The town is now classed as one of the great sites in France and should be visited if you have the time. Whilst in Brouage make sure you see the town’s church, take a stroll around the town’s ramparts and discover the shops where you’ll find a variety of locally produced goods for sale.
  • La Rochelle – There’s plenty to keep the whole family busy in La Rochelle with an abundance of history, culture and art available. Much of the older part of town dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries and here you’ll find a variety of older styled buildings and architecture. One of the main attractions is the old harbour which lies at the heart of the city and boasts a couple of wonderful old towers that provide a stunning backdrop to this wonderful city. Along with the history you’ll also be able to find a variety of bars, restaurants, shops and cafes to keep you busy and one of the most visited attractions in La Rochelle is the aquarium. The aquarium at La Rochelle is home to in excess of 12,000 different sea animals from a variety of different species.
  • Palmyre Zoo – The zoo is extremely popular and worth visiting if you have the time but we suggest you make a whole day of it if you can. The zoo is one of the most popular attractions in the region with in excess of 700,000 people visiting it each and every year and it’s not hard to see why. Set within a huge pine forest, Palmyre Zoo offers you the chance to see a whole variety of different animals in one place. Whilst at the zoo you’ll be able to see amazing and beautiful creatures such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, tigers, sea lions, rhinos, polar bears, hippos, giraffes, elephants, gorillas, orang-utans and a variety of other mammals, birds and reptiles.

We stayed here in Aug 18 for 2 weeks. The site itself is lovely with a fabulous swimming pool and 3 different parks. Our children 8, 5 & 3 loved it. The on site supermarket was well stocked and on a Sunday evening they had a circus arrive. The restaurant and take away had nice food although the menu was slightly limited in the restaurant. Most evenings they had face painting and henna tattoos, along with a mini disco at 7.30 and more adult entertainment at 9pm.

There was kids clubs everyday except Saturday. They did have stables and horse riding but we decided against it as it was so hot. It really is a very lovely site but the down side of SP are ……drinks were expensive (although I did see people bring there own in the evenings). Due to the location there is a LOT of mosquitoes, take lots of spray!

We didn’t really get the evening entertainment, it just wasn’t for us. We’ve had much better family entertainment in other parks. We had a great holiday here but wouldn’t return, although lots of people we met do return, one family we met we’re on there 8th return visit, they also said it was the busiest they’d ever been there. oh and There are limited sun loungers so if it’s a good day you need to be queued up at the swimming pool by 9.30 to get a bed!
