Domaine des Ormes lies on the site of a 16th-century chateau and in our opinion is one of Northern France’s finest campsites.
It is a five-star campsite, has received a number of awards, and is always popular with visitors.
The old manor buildings have been converted to provide the campsites fantastic range of facilities including the old watermill which is now the bar, and the coach house and stables which are now home to the campsites 18 hole golf course. The swimming pool complex is large and has, in recent years, been updated. There are three swimming pools with a number of slides and a lagoon-style pool with a wave pool.
The campsite offers plenty of space for those who just want to relax whilst also offering a whole variety of activities including tennis, horse riding, sports, a zip line, tree climbing, and even fishing.
Domaine des Ormes not only offers a lot to do on-site but the local area offers a wealth of activities and interesting places to visit. There are many sandy beaches in northern Brittany, there’s also the walled town of St Malo, a superb aquarium, and of course the famous Mont St Michel, all within a short distance.

Camping Les Ranchisses offers you a wealth of exciting activities and is well known for its excellent range of pampering facilities. Close to the medieval village of Largentière, the campsite is tranquil yet family-friendly.
Located in the banks of a small river this beautiful campsite, has at its heart a lovely swimming pool complex. Take a dip in one of the beautiful swimming pools, have a go on a slide, or just rest in the shade. Domaine d’Inly is one of our personal favourites. Located in Pénestin, this fabulous campsite is one of the best in southern Brittany.
Not only does the campsite have acres of space but it also offers a wealth of things to do for children. Firstly, you have the campsite’s main attraction, its swimming pool complex! Opened in 2015 children of all ages are kept entertained for hours with a fantastic array of slides, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and wave pool. The inside pool area is one of the best in the region and with plenty of areas for all ages, you’ll find it hard to beat.
Other activities on-site include, fishing, a playground, horse riding, all the usual sports, and even a mini-farm. The mini-farm is brilliant for young children, see the goats, pigs, chickens, and horses up close and personal and little ones really do love touching them.
The other great thing about Domaine d’Inly is its location. Firstly, nearby you have a number of fantastic beaches all of which are sandy and great for family days out. Secondly, there are lots of cycle tracks which are accessible from the campsite entrance and finally there are lots of interesting places to visit nearby.

5) Camping la Garangeoire, St Julien des Landes, Vendee
Camping la Garangeoire is a family-friendly five-star rated Castels campsite. It has been awarded a prestigious four red tents by Michelin for its quality, facilities, and services.
Set in the grounds of a 200-hectare family château estate and away from the hustle and bustle of the coast, the fantastic campsite has a real sense of peace and tranquility amongst the mature oak trees. The peaceful surroundings of the lake are perfect for fishing, which makes it an extremely popular campsite for those who enjoy the sport.
In addition to the lake, there’s plenty to keep children of all ages happy. Firstly, there is a great pool complex that also has a number of water slides. La Sirene is a five-star campsite that occupies a stunning location in Argelès sur Mer, less than 1km from some of the best beaches in southern France.

Domaine La Yole is a fantastic campsite in an unspoiled location just 500 meters from the nearest beach. It boasts an impressive landscaped water park with a number of waterslides, swimming pools, and even a heated children’s pool with water toys.
There are lots of other activities on-site, in addition to the pool, there is a treetop adventure course, cycle hire, crazy golf, archery, fencing, tennis, and petanque. Families with smaller children especially love the large playground and petting zoo.
In the local area, there is plenty to explore. The historic city of Béziers is perfect for history lovers. With its impressive cathedral, old bridges, and Roman arena, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy.

Le Ruisseau is a popular campsite in the southwest of France which is near to some of the best beaches in the region.

9) Domaine de La Rive, Biscarosse, Gironde
Watersports are great fun, keep you active and ensure you keep cool in the hot summer sun and La Rive has plenty on offer.
The campsite lies on a massive lake and is just a short drive from some of the region’s best beaches. Although the coast does provide some great watersport opportunities, the lake offers so much more. The campsite has its own lakeside beach, where you can either play in the sand and water or hire numerous watersport equipment such as SUP’s, canoes, catamarans, flyboards, oxoons, and wakeboards.
On the opposite side of the lake, you’ll also find a large inflatable aquapark which is great fun for all ages and abilities.
To complement the fantastic lake, La Rive also boasts a large range of activities and facilities. The swimming pool is second to none with a large number of indoor and outdoor pools, slides, and seating.

Domaine de Chalain certainly has to be one of the best campsites with a lake that we’ve seen.
It’s perfect for anyone wanting to spend their holiday gazing out across a beautiful lake with stunning scenery and views for as far as the eye can see.
Simply sit on the lakeside beach or enjoy some of the great activities on offer, the choice is yours. The lake is large and offers a variety of watersports including fishing, swimming, canoeing, and pedalos. You can even take your own canoe or SUP if you have one.
The campsite is hugely popular with hikers and cyclists. Located at the foothills of the Jura mountains and surrounded by the lake and forest, there are plenty of places to walk and ride your mountain bike.
