Although we haven’t yet stayed in an Ultimate model ourselves, we’ve seen them during visits to various campsites and can confidently say they stand out for their modern design and premium feel. During our stay at St. Avit Loisirs, we toured an Ultimate accommodation and were impressed by the high-end furnishings and spacious deck area, complete with lounge chairs perfect for al fresco relaxation. Although cheaper than many other of Eurocamp’s ranges, the Classic still offers plenty of space and comfort for your family holiday and is their entry-level accommodation.
We have stayed at a Classic a few times in the past but the main one was our stay at Le Clarys Plage proved that budget-friendly doesn’t mean sacrificing fun. The accommodation was simple yet functional, with all the essentials we needed for our beachside holiday. The lack of a BBQ was a minor downside, but the fully equipped kitchen and proximity to campsite facilities made up for it.

Eurocamp Accommodation Why Pay More
Determining which Eurocamp holiday home to choose, can be tricky.
Do you go for the Classic which is good for those just starting out on a Eurocamp holiday or those on a budget or do you go all out on the Ultimate Plus?
There are various things to think about and it’s not always just about the price.
We’d always suggest you got to the maximum of your budget if you can to ensure that you have the best holiday home you can afford however there are other things to consider.
Accommodation Size
No matter which style of home you choose, the size of your family or group will be a determining factor.
You’ll find a 3 bedroom model is sometimes better for a family of 4 that a two bedroom model. The extra space you get is quite handy especially if you are going for a longer period as although bedrooms are reasonable, if you have lots of luggage then you may find a smaller home a bit tight.
Likewise, if there’s an XL model available in the holiday home you choose, sometimes going for the larger model makes your holiday much more enjoyable.
Outdoor Living Space
One of the main reasons for booking a higher grade of accommodation is the outdoor living space.
Larger, covered decks with superior seating does make your holiday experience much better.
Most people when camping in France have BBQ’s and eat outside together at all times of the day. Having somewhere you can all sit back and relax no matter the weather does make a huge difference.
Obviously as the price increases, the living space gets better and don’t forget the Classic doesn’t come with a BBQ!
Style
If you’re happy with a nice clean basic holiday home then look no further that the Classic. If however you want a holiday to remember with a fantastic quality home from home, then you may want to go further up the Eurocamp range.
Decking Options
Eurocamp accommodations come with various decking options to suit your outdoor preferences:
- Small Decking: Ideal for budget-conscious travelers but can feel cramped for larger groups.
- Covered Decking: Great for enjoying the outdoors during light rain or sunny days.
- Lounge Decking: A premium option with outdoor sofas, adding a touch of luxury to your stay.
Kitchen Features
Since Eurocamp merged with French companies, ovens are no longer standard in Eurocamp accommodations. If an oven is a must-have, check with Eurocamp before booking or consider alternatives like air fryers. Some accommodations come equipped with BBQs, but availability may vary depending on campsite rules.
Plug Sockets: English or European?
Most Eurocamp accommodations are fitted with European-style plug sockets, so it’s essential to bring adapters if you’re traveling from the UK. Some campsites may provide adapters for hire, but it’s more convenient to pack your own. A power bank is also useful for charging devices if you’re on the go during the day.
Tip: If you’re staying in Premium or Ultimate accommodations, check with Eurocamp beforehand, as some units may include dual plug sockets for added convenience.
Air Conditioning: A Must-Have in Hot Climates
Air conditioning can make or break a summer holiday, especially in warmer destinations. During our stay at Camping Domaine Le Pommier in the Ardèche in 2023, temperatures soared to 42 degrees Celsius during a week in August. Without air conditioning, the heat would have been unbearable. For a small extra cost, the air-conditioned accommodation made a huge difference, keeping us cool and comfortable throughout our stay.
Key Advice:
- Always confirm whether your accommodation includes air conditioning before booking, particularly if traveling to hot climates.
- For budget accommodations without air conditioning, consider bringing portable fans or staying in shaded locations.
Why Choose Air Conditioning?
- Essential for hot climates, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.
- Particularly valuable for families with young children or elderly travelers.
