Domaine des Ormes is one of the best campsites in Northern France that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, luxury amenities, and endless activities which guarantees to give you an unforgettable holiday.

Nestled with 400 acres of wooded parkland, this 5 star family run campsite offers plenty of outdoor space for your family to explore and enjoy.

Although the campsite is very peaceful, you can easy take part in a whole range of activities available right on your doorstep. Some cost extra but some of the great activities include golf, horse riding, foot golf, fishing, a zip wire, tree climbing course, tennis and lots more.

One of the best things about Domaine des Ormes his the swimming pool complex which is second to none in Brittany. The pool areas include the hotel pool, club house pool, aquapark and the Dome.

The hotel pool is located just next to the hotel, and there are two pools next to the club house. All three are unheated, open between May and August and are more suited for relaxing in the sun.

The Aquapark is also outside but is heated, open between May and August and offers, rocks and palm trees, fun slides, a swimming area, a small children’s pool and of course sunbeds.

Finally there is the Dome which was added in 2019. With a covered area of 4500m2 and water area of 2000m2 there is no other pool complex like it in Northern France. Within the Dome you’ll find slides, a wave pool, jacuzzi and much more. The Dome is open between April and October and transforms Domaine des Ormes from a warm weather campsite to an all weather campsite.

The other great thing about Domaine de Ormes is it’s location which has two benefits. Firstly it’s in an excellent location for exploring some of the fantastic places and attractions in the area and secondly it is a really easy campsite to get to.

In terms of travelling to Domaine des Ormes, the campsite is accessible from all of the cross channel ferry ports within a reasonable time. The closest ferry port to the campsite is St Malo which is only 38km away. Next is Caen at 163km, Cherbourg at 200km, Roscoff at 210km, Le Havre at 242km, Dieppe at 334km and finally Calais at 503km.

As we mentioned, the location of the campsite offers you plenty of opportunities to visit some fantastic places. Some of the most popular include Dinard with its beaches and marina, St Malo with its walled ramparts, beaches and fantastic aquarium and finally Mont Saint Michel which is not only a fantastic sight but also filled with history.

Des Menhirs – Carnac, Southern Brittany

It may not have one of the biggest swimming pool complexes in France but what this fabulous campsite does have is one of the best locations.

Des Menhirs can be found in on the edge of Carnac on the south coast of Brittany just a minutes from one of the best beaches in the region.

Although the pool complex isn’t massive, we think it has plenty for the size of campsite. It features an indoor family and toddler pool along with an outdoor heated family and toddler pool, all of which are open from the end of March until the end of September.

You’ll also find 3 waterslides that include a straight and twisty slide along with a space bowl type slide.

The best thing however, as we’ve already mentioned, is the campsites proximity to the beach. A 6 minute walk and you’ll find yourself on Grand Plage. Stretching out for 2 kilometres, Grand Plage is a white sandy beach with restrooms, parking and a long boulevard with restaurants along it.

Within a stones throw of Grand Plage are several other beach waiting to be explored that will offer you plenty of fun, playing in the sand and swimming in the sea.

If you are looking for a family friendly campsite with a fantastic beach nearby, this is the campsite for you.

When staying at Des Menhirs, you’ll find everything you need in Carnac. Shops and restaurants are in abundance and the supermarket is handy for stocking up on all the essentials. It’s also well worth visiting the standing stones of Carnac which are ancient stones that stand in lines all around the area.

Getting to Des Menhirs obviously takes a little longer but the drive is well worth the effort. The closest ferry port to the campsite is St Malo and Roscoff both of which are 181km. Next is Caen at 340km, Cherbourg at 377km, Le Havre at 418km, Dieppe at 510km and finally Calais at 680km.

La Grande Metairie – Carnac, Southern Brittany

Getting to La Grande Metairie is similar to Des Menhirs due to their close proximity. The closest ferry port to the campsite is St Malo and Roscoff both of which are about 180km. Next is Caen at 338km, Cherbourg at 372km, Le Havre at 417km, Dieppe at 508km and finally Calais at 661km.

Le Port de Plaisance – Benodet, Southern Brittany

Domaine d’Inly – Pénestin, Southern Brittany

Finally we come to the superb Domaine d’Inly at Penestin. Slightly further south than the others on list means that the campsite can benefit from warmer weather at times.

Domaine d’Inly is a personal favourite due to its great swimming pool and range of things to keep kids busy.

Firstly you’ll find all the usual sporting activities, along with a few added extras. A small lake for fishing, canoeing and pedalos, a horse riding area and most important of all for children of all ages, the mini farm.

The mini farm is fantastic, it’s a real mini-educational farm and is home to goats, sheep, chickens, geese, pigs and ducks.

The local area has plenty of beaches to visit and if you like taking you bikes on holiday, you’ll find a great cycle path right outside the campsite that will take you all around the local area.

Finally the swimming pool complex is second to none in the area and is open from April until September. It truly is massive, covering more than 5000m2 with a wave pool, a wild river, 8 slides , jacuzzis and paddling pool. Inside the heated dome you’ll find a range of slides and pools to keep you entertained no matter what the weather outside is like.
